About Nate Snitzer

Nate Snitzer is a 26-year old Native Arizonan, born in 1982, from Mesa, Arizona. He started his art studies in his senior year of high school under his AP art teacher Dan Bevington, who had greatly encouraged him to follow the arts. After graduating high school, Nate had studied for a short year at Arizona State University, where he found the art education extremely lacking. Not to be discouraged, he continued on a path of self learning after leaving ASU for a couple years until he stumbled upon Collins College hoping to make it as an animator and 3D artist. He had received his Associates in animation at Collins College, but in his studies at the school, he had discovered his real true love for the fine arts from his life drawing classes.

After he graduated Collins College in 2004, he moved to South Dakota to begin his formal academic classical training at Pantura Studios in Sioux Falls under painters Hans-Peter Szameit and Sanna Tomac. He was studying in the classical fine arts tradition of realist painters such as Jean-Léon Gérôme, Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, and J.W. Waterhouse.

Nate attended Pantura Studios for eight months before experiencing some financial setbacks and reluctantly moving back to Arizona. While back in Arizona, he had continued taking workshops from the likes of the wonderful portrait painter William Whitaker and continuing on a path of self-learning. He even ran a short stint as an illustrator for a card game company before the call of more formal training lured him out to Texas to study with Jonathan Hardesty in July of 2007.

Nate had just recently finished up his short studies in Writewright, Texas with Jonathan Hardesty in January 2008 and is currently residing back in Arizona. He is presently teaching private students and working from his studio in order to achieve his goal of gallery representation.
